Being a part of many watch groups and forums over the years I’ve come across a lot of very friendly, very knowledgeable, and helpful people. Sadly, I feel that they are the minority in our niche group. No matter the forum or group style weather it be luxury watches or your basic everyday horology fan page its astonishing to see how many negative and hateful people you can come across. From simple name calling all the way to disrespecting peoples family. I just find it hard to believe that someone’s simple watch post could cause so much hate & resentment towards another person. It’s absolutely disgusting. The sad part is that they all have the same thing in common that brought them together. WATCHES! It shouldn’t bother someone if a person wears $100 Invicta or if they have $8000 to blow on a Rolex. It should be about the passion of horology and to help encourage the hobby and help other learn, respect, & love watches in “our” tiny niche group.
My apologies for this rant bit I think that this is something we can all take note of and learn from and reflect on. Hopefully in the future we all can be more respectful of each other. We all come from different walks of life and all have many different things going on in our lives. There really be zero reason for the negativity and poor attitudes!
